The Arabian Nights
Costume Design by Caitlin Quinn
Directed by Dr Patricia Ridge
Northern Illinois University

Production Details: The director's concept for this production was to not set it directly in a country in the Middle East, but rather create a fantastical world not anchored in a specific time period or place but referencing styles from many Middle Eastern and South Asian cultures.

Costume Details: The costumes were designed to be transformable as the actors never left stage as they changed character. Hats, scarves, tunics, and vests were removed or added fluidly throughout the action of the play. The costumes were colorful, patterned, and textured to create a dream-like quality since most of the play is storytelling.
