Mrs. Packard
Costume Design by Caitlin Quinn
Directed by Dr Patricia Ridge
Northern Illinois University

Production Details: This show was set in 1861 and produced for the Northern Illinois University MainStage series. The production had the support of the NIU costume shop.

Costume Details: The costumes were designed to be historically accurate, but the distressing on the hems of the skirts was applied to look like cracks rather than dirt build up. The cracking of the skirts referenced the facility of the women's wills within their unjust institutionalization. Mrs. Packard is the only patient character who never has any cracks on her costume.
