An Ideal Husband
Costume and Makeup Design by Caitlin Quinn
Directed by Jack Hickey
Northern Illinois University

Scenic Designer: Brandin Hurley

Production Details: This production was set in the 1890 and the design elements were meant to emphasize the character's wealth. Early in the design process the director and I decided to reduce the size of the women's sleeve (which would have historically been very large) to a smaller scale to appear less comical to a modern eye. This production was supported by the NIU costume shop.

Costume Details: I focused on contrasting the line and color of the Chiltern's costumes and Mrs. Cheveley's costume. The Chiltern's are pale pinks, purples, and grays with straight vertical lines. Mrs. Cheveley wears saturated red and green with all diagonal lines.
