The Comedy of Errors
Costume Design by Caitlin Quinn
Directed by Rebecca Bailey MFA
The South Dakota Shakespeare Festival

Production Details: The director for this production did not it to be set in any specific historical period or place. The costumes and set were meant to look "fairy-tale" like with references to a wide variety of historical periods. The actors were very active with a fair amount of climbing and tumbling in the blocking. I was the costume designer as well as the shop manager with one additional costume shop stitcher. There was a 4 week designing and building period.

Costume Details: This was an outdoor production and all costumes had to be usable in light rain. Most of the actors had blocking which required them to kneel in the grass so all the breeches had to be machine washable. This is a play about mistaken identity so the four main characters had to be costumed similarly but not identically. The fabric for all of the four male leads was the same but I used the reverse side for each set. Also, one set of twins had an upward pointing center arrow and the other had a downward pointing arrow.
