Goldilocks on Trial
Costume and Makeup design by Caitlin Quinn
Directed by Michelle Schwantes
St Croix Festival Theatre

Production Details: This was a children's theatre production with all child actors. The roles were all either fairy tale characters or animals. The jury featured recognizable characters such as a witch, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, and the Frog Prince. This production was completed with no costume shop support - all the pulling, building, and alterations were done by me. I was onsite for two weekends for fittings and one full week for dress rehearsals.

Costume Details: The director's concept was "edgy" but recognizable versions of fairy tale characters. She wanted Little Red Ridding Hood to be more like a "warrior" and the character of "Goldilocks" was designed to be punk. The lawyers, and bear family were meant to be the more mundane modern characters. The biggest challenge with designing this piece was finding and altering pieces for the youth actors. There was a small budget for the production and the theatre had an extremely limited youth costume selection. I did a lot of thrifting for items and rented a few pieces from UMD.
