Assassins
Costume and Makeup Design by Caitlin Quinn
Directed by Dr. Raimondo Genna
University of South Dakota

Production Details: The director's concept for this production was that the assassins are all caught in a dingy circus which represents purgatory. The costume and set color concept was red, white, and blue.

Costume Details: My costume concept was that the assassins wore their notoriety literals on their sleeves. So I found newspaper articles about each assassin from the period they lived in. I printed those out and fused them to the fabric or each assassin's costume. I custom designed and printed the fabric for the Proprietor (the character in stilts) to be newspaper clippings about assassinations and gun violence throughout history. Early in the design process I pitched to the team the idea of the Proprietor wearing stilts to reference the classic character of "Uncle Sam". The director liked the idea of stilts as long as they could be removed for several scenes. Because of the stilts coming on and off the pants were built to have a removable bottom layer.
